It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. Etcetera. Etcetera. Etcetera.
Things have been settling into general, every day pvp between the Minmatar/Amarr USTZ the last week or so. I logged in last night to my giddy corpmate Galdornae grinning from ear to ear. (Okay, so his avatar can’t grin, but if it could…)
Apparently, he had been romping around in his fleet stabber and had been set upon by a small Amarr gang sporting a few tech 1 cruisers and several frigates and destroyers. He killed them all, only getting some (unsolicited) help on one of the cruisers at the end by a Minmatar who happened upon his situation and ninjad in on the kill. Unfortunately the actual battle report got messed up by some pvp that happened previously in system by corresponding pilots.
This is not the first time that a Minmatar pilot has taken on an entire gang solo. A few months ago, I linked several hilarious battlereports of Dagrens from his rumple stomping in null-sec where he had taken on 4-5 rather shiny ships in his tech 3 cruiser, killing them all.
Later in the evening I roamed around in my bait cane, and finally happened upon a neutral who ended up aggressing me due to my evil pirateyness. He was also in a cane, but the character was less than 24 hours out of Sniggs, so I knew he’d probably have friends (or even a titan) nearby. I pointed him and started shooting, and let the guys on coms know what was going on. Many of them were 1-2 jumps and a very long warp across system away.
It wasn’t until I started burning through the guy’s shield cane’s armor (with no additional pl showing up) that I realized I could have easily soloed him with my own cane. (I was at about 75-80% armor in my armor cane, and was maintaining a steady lock even though he had ECM drones on me.) But at that point most of the guys were in warp, hoping to arrive in time to get on the killmail. Oh well.
We killed a couple pirates. One guy was warped onto by a small gang of them off gate, and we came in to assist. We managed to catch a bc and a curse, but the rest of their gang fled the scene in different directions, abandoning their comrads almost as immediately as we landed.
It was a pretty layed back evening. I took plenty of breaks to get munchies or watch a Star Trek episode or two. Chatted with a prospective Ka Pow Pow new recruit. (Yeah, we might actually recruit someone.) And of course, did some marketeering on my alt.
Not bad for a Monday night.
